Bora Bora and the Society Islands’ outrageous brochure images of cerulean waters and golden sands are entirely accurate. Bora Bora often steals the limelight when it comes to the Society Islands. But the lesser known Ra’iatea and Taha’a have a lot to offer those with time to explore the more understated of the Leeward Islands.
We arrived in Bora Bora amid rotten, overcast London-style weather and so feared the worst: that maybe this destination wasn’t all it was cracked up to be. However, our fears were short-lived and once the sunshine and blue skies broke through we were rewarded with everything the brochures had promised. We spent our time exploring the motus, beaches and main island by kayak, bike and outrigger.
